23rd June 2018

Congratulations on completing the 2018 Mendip Murmuration!

On Saturday 23rd June 2018, 140 people took part in The Mendip Murmuration, cycling through  some of Somerset’s stunning landscapes. Cruising and carving over and around Cheddar Gorge, Crook Peak, Black Down and Rowberrow Warren. We were very lucky that this event was part of the Top of the Gorge festival and supported by Alpkit. We hope that all of you who entered took advantage of all the festival facilities – we did notice that the gin bar and cider tent were some of the first visited when you crossed the finish line!

The weather was very different to last year but it did give us a great backdrop for this first leg of The Triple!  This year, nearly half of you managed to complete the full 35 miles of the course. The beautiful weather proved to be one of the greatest challenges in the event and it was by no means easy! So well done to you all!

We hope that you will join us in thanking our wonderful volunteers this year. We could not run the event without our volunteer tribe and even with the heat they all did an amazing job. We had some volunteers out marking, remarking and sweeping the route, others at checkpoints, serving drink at our Miles Tea Stop and others welcoming you across the line. The event ran smoothly because of these wonderful people who gave up their time to help us make this event.

We would also like to thank you the riders, you all paid attention to the ride brief at the beginning, were courtesy to other users and were very understanding to slight alteration in the route due to a whole section of our route markers being removed overnight.

We very much hope that you all enjoyed this event as much as we did. If you’re looking for another ride somewhere different do check out the upcoming Exmoor Explorer and the Quantock Quake!

New for 2018!
The Triple is for those who think they’ve got the legs to conquer the Mendips, Exmoor and the Quantocks all in one year. The Triple is entry to all three of our 2018 mountain biking events and all the glory that goes with completing. Can you take on the Mendip Murmuration in June, the Exmoor Explorer in August and finish with the Quantock Quake in September?

Ticket sales for The Triple are limited. By committing to The Triple you ensure entry into all 3 events.

The Quantock Quake is a non-competitive mountain biking event of 20 or 35 miles, held in the Beautiful Quantock Hills AONB, Somerset, South West England. Open moorland, woodland trails, natural single track and secluded Combes, the Quake has it all.
