Congratulations on completing the 2018 Quantock Quake!
2018 saw the sixth Quantock Quake covering 17.5 or 27 miles (or 37 miles for those few who did both loops before the cut off time and went out on the extra loop again!) This event was held in the beautiful Quantock Hills AONB, Somerset, this place is a mecca for mountain biking and you were once again treated to stunning open moorland, woodland trails, natural single tracks and secluded combes. The Quantocks has it all! Now very much established in the South West cycling calendar and the catalist for building ‘The Triple’, we’re already looking forward for 2019!
Whether you chose the main or extended route, you accessed areas of the Quantocks usually restricted by access legislation, as well as riding some of the areas classic single tracks. There were some great views both from and of, the Quantocks and you were fully supported by our friendly Quantock Quake event tribe.
The Quantock Quake was also the last event of our 2018 triple challenge! Lot of you rose to the challenge and managed to complete the Mendip Murmuration, the Exmoor Explorer and the Quantock Quake. We hope that the Quake was a fitting finale and that you enjoyed exploring all 3 of Somerset’s fantastic mountain biking areas!
We would like to thank our fantastic volunteer tribe – without them this event could not run and we are very grateful to those who gave up their time to contribute towards this great event. We would also like to thank the riders – our sweepers and route clearers did not have to pick up any litter from the riders on the route. This is amazing as we are greatly trying to reduce the impact we have on this fantastic environment!
The Quake will be back on the 1st September 2019! Add the date to your diary now. Tickets for the 2019 Quake and ‘The Triple’ will go on sale 6pm on Friday 5th October.
We heard some great stories on the day about the reason behind your entry and we’d love to share them! Do let us know any stories that you have for us to publish! They could be the reasoning behind your entry or a story from the day!
We would love to see your photos too. If you have any great photos from the day that you would like to share then please send them over to us.
