We’ve had a great year so far!  Four events sold out and we’ve achieved more Racecheck gold and silver awards!  We’re feeling very humbled and honoured!  Thank you so much to every one of you for supporting our small not for profit community interest company!

Our mountain bike and kayak events have finished now for the year but we still have the Minehead Triathlon coming up and the first 2 events of our Dark Skies Series!  Check out below for more information!

Registration for the Minehead Triathlon opened earlier this year and it’s been fantastic to see entries coming in. It’s a great way to end the triathlon season and you couldn’t get a more picturesque setting! If you don’t want to take on all 3 elements of the event, why not join as a relay team of 2 or 3 people and split it between you?

We saw some groups join us last year from local Tri clubs – it was great to see their club t-shirts lined up for photo ops after the event! Why not speak to your local club to see if you can get a group together to book at a discounted rate?

We’ve had some amazing prizes donated to us by Dryrobe and Dirty Dog Eyewear!  You’ve got to be in it to win it though!!

There are some great campsites that are still open and guesthouses in the area so why not stay and explore this beautiful part of the country too?

Click the button below to book – entries close at midnight Friday 29th September 2023 with t-shirt and medal packs available to order until midnight Sunday 24th September 2023.

Our Dark Skies Series of night trail runs are back for winter 2023/24!

We’ve listened to your feedback, crunched the numbers and taken onboard how the last series worked out and have decided to give it a bit of a shake up!

The 2023/24 series will now consist of our most popular 4 events:

                    • Arlington Asteroids – 28th October 2023
                    • Moonlit Meadow Run – 25th November 2023
                    • Storm the Fort – 20th January 2024
                    • Assault on Baggy Point – 16th March 2024

In a nutshell, committing early to entering these events, ensure that they happen!

Please show your support by booking early and sharing the events with your friends / clubs / neighbours / family / running buddies and anyone else you think would enjoy great night trail running experiences in fantastic locations!

Our group discounts have been a huge success – why not gather the troops and enter at a reduced price?!

We can’t wait to see you all on those starry start lines!

WOW!  What can we say about this?!  Our inaugural Steaming to the Coast trail running event has SOLD OUT to the initial capped number of 300 entries.

This has sold out 8 months prior to the event!  We’re overwhelmed by the support you’ve all shown for this brand new event – entries went live on 1st June and we sold out in just under 3 months! Thank you 😊 🧡
If you missed out, we are hopeful that more places may be added soon depending on carriage / heritage bus availability with West Somerset Railway.
Thank you again to everyone who’s entered, your support has meant we can bring this concept to life.

Looking through the entries, we have had lots of clubs signing up as group bookings to take advantage of the discounted places! Thank you all so much for your support!

If you’ve not seen any information about the event, here’s what we’re doing! We’ve chartered a steam train and will take the runners out from Minehead Station and will drop at 3 different locations so that you can complete the beautiful trail routes back to Minehead! It will be fully marshalled with our fabulous TRIBE volunteers and the route will be flagged up with our reuse-able arrows and flags.

Distances are as follows:

– 11 km: Washford Start

– 11 miles: Williton Start

– Marathon (26.2 miles): Bishops Lydeard Start

If you missed out on getting a place, click the button below to register your interest – if we’re able to organise another carriage or heritage bus, then you’ll be the first to know!

This is such a great weekend to be part of and we’re really proud of it!

The weekend kicks off on the Friday night with a sunset swim at Pinkery Pond and then the Saturday is all about the Exmoor Perambulation!  It’s always great to see a great mix of Long Distance Walkers, Ultra Marathoners and Wild Trail Runners self navigating themselves around the historic route!

Man vs Moor was is always so much fun on the Sunday seeing our runners take on the natural obstacles of the landscape and taking a short swim across Pinkery Pond!

Numbers were low this year for Man vs Moor and although we will be back for 2024, unfortunately, with these low numbers it’s not looking viable to continue with this event after that. The smiles on your faces showed how much you loved it so we really need you to tell all of your running buddies! It would be amazing to be able to grow the event for 2024 and beyond.

We’ll be opening entries at midday on 1st December 2023 – we’ve secured the bunkhouse and camping field to host the Exmoor Running and Walking Festival again next year from Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd June 2024! Be sure to keep that weekend free!

The weekend before last, 70 of you ventured out on the water for our sold out annual Summer Sigh weekend. It’s the 2nd of our super chilled weekends for those who already have paddling skills – a great opportunity for guided trips around the coast with local experts. It was great to see you all there and enjoy time around the campfire after the days adventures!  It took just over 24 hours for this years Summer Sigh to sell out, so if you’d like to join us, make sure you save the date and be ready to book on 1st January 2024 when registration opens!

The next sea kayak event in the diary, the Springboard to Summer, is due to take place in May 2024 – tickets go on sale 1st November 2023, but as with the Summer Sigh, this year sold out in just over 24 hours!  You’ll need to register as soon as it opens online to secure your place!

We’ve absolutely loved this years Triple Series!  We started with the Mendip Murmuration achieving a Silver award from Racecheck!  The Exmoor Explorer won a Gold award and all of your fabulous reviews from the Quantock Quake means that we’re on track to receive another Gold award!  Thank you to everyone who took the time to review our events – it really does help us spread the word and encourage new people to come and try them!  If you haven’t managed to complete your review yet, the links sent out in the post event emails are still valid!

We finished the series with a bang at the beginning of this month with the Quantock Quake!  Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us as Mighty Rough Justice rocked the evening away!

A total of £1272 was raised with your donations for the original vintage Quantock Quake 2013 t-shirts, the raffle, auction and the donation buckets for the Exmoor Search and Rescue Team!  Being a voluntary charitable organisation ESRT rely completely on the good will of those who support them financially and it costs £25,000 a year to keep the team operational, all of which is raised through donations.  All donations go directly towards their running costs and purchasing essential life-saving equipment, maintaining vehicles, base and training team members.  Every donation helps to save lives!  Thank you for your help in supporting them!

With all camping, parking and vendor pitch fee proceeds, a total of £1092 was raised for the Over Stowey Cricket Club Youth Section to develop youth sport!

We did something slightly different this year and opened Early Bird entries the day after the Quantock Quake!  They’ll remain the same price as this year, £99, until midnight 30th September 2023 after which time the standard entry price will be £112.50!

As always, you can always enter events individually – these will be priced at £40.00 per event which makes our early bird ticket even better value!

Dates will be as follows:

  • The Mendip Murmuration – Saturday 8th June 2024
  • The Exmoor Explorer – Sunday 14th July 2024 (VENUE TBC)
  • The Quantock Quake – Saturday 31st August 2024

We have decided to keep the Quantock Quake event on a Saturday due to the positive response to moving it this year!  It’s a great way to finish the series and we’ll celebrate completing the Triple with a band, a bar and some food again next year.

One Fyne Night, formerly part of the Dark Skies Series made a comeback this year, but this time as a summer evening event.

It was quite a small event, but it was great to see everyone join us for a great route around the beautiful Fyne Court Estate in the Quantock Hills AONB which took runners around the parkland and woods before finishing in the main courtyard area.

A fabulous route in a beautiful location and we had a lovely mix of people challenging themselves, running with friends and those who brought the family out to do something a bit different in the summer holidays!

We loved it so much we’re coming back to Fyne Court next year to do it all again on 17th August 2024!!  Entries open at midday on 1st February 2024!

Our sliding discounts for group bookings for any of our mountain bike, running or walking events have been hugely successful! It’s been wonderful to see our local clubs entering across our events!

  • Enter a team of 10-19 people and receive 10% off
  • Enter a team of 20-49 people and receive 15% off

All you need to do is assemble your team, enter via the ‘bulk purchase’ button on the booking page, and hey presto! Your discount will be automatically applied! You won’t need to enter your team mates information at the time of booking, but we will need them to complete their registration details one month prior to the event.

If you’d like to enter a team of 50+ then please get in touch so we can organise your 20% discount!

Please note: if you have been entered as part of a pre paid group booking, you’ll need to order your medal in a separate transaction as the booking system is unable to process the information for a pre paid booking along with a medal or momento order.

We can’t wait to see you all lined up in your club t-shirts on the start lines!

The reviews we’ve had so far on Racecheck have been amazing!! Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to do so! Two of our running events have been presented with a Gold Award this year, a Silver Award for the Mendip Murmuration mountain bike event, Gold Award for the Exmoor Explorer and another Gold for the One Fyne Night Summer trail run has just come in! If you have taken part in any of our events, it would be great if you could show them some love and rate them on Racecheck! People love to see our pictures and videos from the events, but reading your reviews goes a lot further! Let’s make the rest of this year a smash hit!

In our bid to keep our prices the same as last year, be more sustainable and waste free, we made the decision earlier this year to keep our medals and t-shirts as a separate purchase from your entry. Some of you told us that they didn’t want the bling so this means that we only order exactly what we need. The reduction in left over medals & momento’s so far this year has been phenomenal and tells us we’ve definitely made the right move! We’ve also moved to a really lovely local family run supplier which also reduces our carbon footprint. We’ve kept the square medal so that there’s less production waste too! Burnt Chips have made a few of our event medals now and they’ve been really well received! They’re solid oak and they look and smell amazing! If you don’t want to hang them up and show them off then use the lanyard for your office pass and the medal is still the perfect size to be used as a coaster!

We love a bit of merch and we know you do too! Last year we teamed up with the fabulous Jan Olive and Flanci Activewear to bring you our own Channel Events Warrior and Tribe range of shorts, leggings and skorts! It’s super comfortable, really eye catching and even has a variety of pockets! It’s been amazing seeing photos of you all around the country showing off our gear!

If you haven’t got yours yet, click the link below! We’d love you to tag us @channeleventsuk on your socials!

We’ve been single use plastic free for quite a few years now and we’ve been looking at ways to be even more sustainable by not dishing out safety pins at each event to attach your bib numbers. Please be upstanding for our recycled plastic, reusable snap lock bib clips! They are going down a storm so far! They’re ideal for the wetter weathers too as they don’t put a hole in your waterproof jackets! You can buy them online, or at our events.

We’re also selling reusable collapsible cups which are available at all of our events just in case you forget to bring a drinking vessel to fill at our water stations!

If you’d like to get involved but don’t want to enter one of our events, we’d love to have you with us as part of our TRIBE of volunteers! As a thank you, you’ll receive an on the day breakfast and a cuppa voucher along with our distinctive orange technical t-shirts! If you’ve entered but have family and friends coming to support you, why not get them involved too! Just email events@channelgroup.co.uk or click the button below to join our facebook group!

Thanks so much for your continued support – we’re looking forward to seeing you all on those start lines!

Dan and Jan 🧡
