Clevedon Long Swim

We are really excited to he taking on this iconic and historic event, thank you to Gavin and the team at Clevedon Open Water Events for handing us the baton for 2025 and beyond.

Please note that the Long Swim will not be happening this year due to the landslip at Layde Bay.  We needed to give North Somerset Council plenty of time to make is safe for us and the public to use again which didn’t leave us enough time to put on our usual high standard of event.

Tide times prevented us from organising this event around the Clevedon SwimRun and Triathlon weekend, but as soon as we have organised a date, we’ll email our database to let everyone know!

This historic swim has been held in Clevedon since 1928 when two silver trophies were donated to present to the winners: Women, the silver Rose Bowl and Men, the Oakhill Brewery Cup. 

The swim starts from Ladye Bay after high tide. Swimmers are carried down on the ebb tide, under Clevedon’s grade 1 listed pier, to finish at Clevedon beach, a distance of about 1 mile.

There are two waves, faster swimmers set off first followed by leisure/novice swimmers second.

Swimmers may swim with or without a wetsuit, though novices are advised to wear one. Novices are also advised to use a tow float. 

Please note: Online entries close 8 days prior to event day. Optional medals also go off sale 8 days prior so please book early to avoid disappointment.
