All entrants need to be appropriately equipped to deal with the weather conditions on the day. The event may be in July but Exmoor often has its own ideas!

Clothing and shoes needs to be appropriate for both running and swimming in the conditions of the day. Please be mindful that the event takes place on remote rugged terrain and trail running shoes are strongly advised.

Water Station

There will be water available at approximately  half way on the 10 km and 10 mile routes. This has to be carried in by the marshals. It’s a 1 mile journey on foot so the water should taste even better!

Celebration is the key!! Let’s see those arms aloft as you cross the line.

We’ll be waiting with your bespoke finishers medal. Technical t-shirts (purchased separately) can be collected once you cross the line. Don’t forgot to head to the Finisher’s Wall for a great photo opportunity.

No matter your running ability this event is fun for all! We do recommend that some form of training – For full training details please visit our training section

The main event does include an open water swim of approximately 75 – 100 metres. You’ll need to swim in your running gear so please make sure that you are comfortable doing so.

For those who don’t wish to take part in the swim there is an alternative route that takes you to the next obstacle, Total Blackout.

Included in your entry is a free acclimatisation swim on the evening of Friday 19th June at Pinkery Pond.

New to openwater swimming? Channel Events run open water swimming sessions as part of the Mid-week Warriors community group which is free to those who have entered an event or belong to the volunteer TRIBE.

During registration you will be given your entrant number, this must be visible to all marshalls throughout the race, who will make note of this as you make your way through the checkpoints and across the finish line. This is how we know you are safe and accounted for.

For those brave enough to take on Dash, Splash and Thrash, entry into the water will be controlled. There will be an approximate 1 minute hold before entry and a team member will be onsite to give water entry advice. You will swim in your running gear and exit straight into Total Blackout. Helmets for the Total Blackout are available if you feel you need it.

Exmoor Search and Rescue are onsite for all of our events and will be at various locations across the moor.

There are 2 checkpoints on the 10 km course and 3 on the 10 mile course. Entrants must stop at the water entry checkpoint. Here you may be held for 1 minute before you can enter the water whilst your heart rate settles.

The weather just adds to the challenge! This event is about taking on all Mother Nature can throw at you. Enjoy!

Whatever the weather conditions, please make sure you are appropriately equipped to deal with the remote environment. The event will run in conditions deemed safe by the event organisers, which is pretty much most weather. Should the conditions not be appropriate the events team will contact you no fewer than 12 hours prior to the event registration. See terms and conditions for our cancellation policy.

Course Markers

The course will be marked with bright orange flags, orange tape (minimal) and marker arrows, as well as event signage at various locations.

First Aid

First Aid will be provided by the   Channel Events team.

We welcome all entrants who would like to run on behalf of a charity. Exmoor Search and Rescue and Caremoor for Exmoor would be our favoured charities but if you have any questions regarding this please contact us.

Fancy Dress

Fancy dress is definitely allowed and very much encouraged, however, it must be appropiate for the terrain. We cannot allow costumes that are unsafe in any of the obstacles.

If your costume is deemed unfit then you will not be allowed to compete. If you are unsure then please do contact us.

Activity Cameras

If you want to wear your action sports camera to record and relive your experience, we are more than happy for you to do this but it is entirely at your own risk. We cannot be responsible for the loss or damage of your equipment. Did you get some great footage? Share it with us via our social media channels for all to see! We’d love to see your adventure!

Good spectators make an event and we’d love to see your entourage there cheering you on!

Due to the nature of the event and the remote terrain it covers, we will be providing a ‘Spectator Guide’ and specified spectator locations. The guide includes the great spots to see some of the action. Please bare in mind that the entrants will be running, so if seeing the finish is a priority make sure you head back in plenty of time.

Don’t fancy trekking across the moor? We have the answer, stay close and enjoy a brew while you wait for your friends and loved ones to finish.

We will have professional photographer on site so smile when you spot him. All the images will be available to buy after the event. Details given out on race day.

If you or your entourage get some good shots we’d love you to share them with us via social media or drop them in an e-mail to events@channelgroup.co.uk.

I’m afraid that at this event dogs are not allowed to compete. They are very welcome to join the spectators but MUST be kept under close control.

Freshen Up

Feeling brave? Freshen up under our outdoor shower (brrrrr), after all you’ve just taken on the moor so you’ve got what it takes! If however, you like the idea of a hot shower, get in quick and book a bed at Pinkery for the Saturday night. All dorm rooms have en suite shower facilities but are limited to 44 beds per night.

To Take Home

We thought that you’d like to prove to everyone that you completed this amazing challenge, therefore, your bespoke wooden laser engraved finishers medal will be waiting for you at the finish line.

You can then collect your Man vs Moor 2020 finishers technical t-shirt (for those who ordered one),  wear it with pride and head over to our ‘Finisher’s Wall’ to grab some photos to remember the day.
