Congratulations on completing the 2018 Exmoor Perambulation!
On Saturday 16th June 2018, 122 people took part in Exmoor National Park’s iconic traditional circular long distance walking event dating back over 725 years.
This year over half of you completed the full 31 mile “relaxed journey on foot for exercise or pleasure” (as the dictionary defines it!) around the original boundary of the Royal Hunting Forest of Exmoor. You participated in a historic event that traces its origins back to the time of Edward I. Congratulations to all 122 entrants – we do hope that you have all recovered.
This is one of the most challenging walks in the Exmoor annual calendar. During the 31 miles, the route follows the boundary of the Royal Forest at the time of its sale in 1818. One great aspect of this event is that much of the route is accessible only with permission of the landowners concerned – so you accessed parts of the National Park not normally open to the public.
You are now forever part of this wonderful event’s long history and we do hope to see you again on the start line next year!
We heard some great stories on the day about the reason behind your entry and we’d love to share them! Do let us know any stories that you have for us to publish! They could be the reasoning behind your entry or a story from the day!
We would love to see your photos too. If you have any great photos from the day that you would like to share then please send them over to us.
