2024 was fantastic year for us here at Channel Events and we’d like to thank each and every one of you for being a part of that success!
We delayed publishing this blog for a couple of weeks so that we didn’t get lost amongst all of the January noise! So, let’s celebrate the successes of 2024 and all the good things to come out of it and focus on a really positive 2025!
A few of our highlights from 2024:
Continued growth in numbers at most of our events with many selling out including the inaugural ‘Steaming to the Coast’ Trail running event. Great numbers on our very first Clevedon Swim Run and first Mendip Aurora night trail run. The Springboard to Summer Sea Kayak gathering sold out in just 7 hours! Across the 16 events we delivered in 2024 we engaged with 2903 entrants with 2815 booking in advance via our online platform and 88 entering on the day. With an average ‘no show’ rate of just 17% it’s encouraging to see the numbers getting back to the pre-pandemic era with more people getting active outdoors on a regular basis.
Recognition and mentions in the local media and our Community Canal Run even made it to your screen via the ITV Westcountry News. Shortlisted for the Somerset Business Awards in the ‘Investing in Somerset’ award. Showcased in the Taunton Chamber of Commerce magazine for our efforts to lead the way in making events more eco-friendly and sustainable.
We’ve won 10 Racecheck Awards (9 x GOLD and 1 x SILVER) thanks to all your wonderful reviews. In 2024, 451 reviews were submitted across all our events via the Racecheck platform averaging 4.82/5.
Our volunteer marshal ‘TRIBE’ go from strength to strength and the community feel is strong. Many Tribe members volunteer at multiple events across various sporting disciplines. We see being in the Tribe as another way to take part, be active outside while supporting your social and emotional well-being. In 2024 a total of 4995 volunteer hours were donated to enable us to deliver our events to a high standard, keeping the entry prices sensible and keeping you all safe and informed. Our community group the ‘Warrior Tribe Active Community’ which is facilitated via a facebook group has really solidified with members now regularly posting their activities, planning sessions and coordinating their own small groups to get regularly outdoors and active. Our partnerships with Exmoor National Park, the National Landscape Services and the National Trust to deliver events that are sustainable, environmentally sound and allow education on the responsible use of the stunning locations we use in Somerset and North Devon continue to develop. Further developing links with amazing local charities including the Exmoor Search and Rescue Team, Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue Team, Somerset Wildlife Trust, Caremoor for Exmoor and St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice. New links have also been created in readiness for 2025 with On Your Bike, Marlens and the Canal and River Trust. Continuing our partnership with Flanci Activewear and adding a new pattern called ‘Voyager’ to our collection of activewear which can be purchased directly from the Flanci website. Our biggest highlight of all has to be and will always be the continued incredible support we receive from all of our entrants, volunteers, supporters, suppliers and stakeholders. Your support has continued to overwhelm us and we can’t thank you enough, Thank you so much. Your support has been amazing and we are looking forward to what 2025 brings with growth of our current events, some new additions and a few new ideas up our sleeves. New for 2025: More FREE monthly community challenges/sessions though our Warrior Tribe Active Community group. Join the Facebook group for more information that will be released soon. The development and implementation of our new ‘Wild’ courses which are being carefully designed to give attendees the confidence to get out and active outdoors on two feet, two wheels, on or in the water. This was intended for 2022 but has been delayed due to the our focus on running safe events already in our calendar. Developing two brand new events in Somerset working with local charities, social enterprises and small businesses. More news on these coming soon. Exciting times!
