What a great first half of the year!  Three events sold out, a top gold award for our first 2 events reviewed through Racecheck and we have just found out that another has picked up a silver!  We’re feeling very humbled and honoured!  Thank you so much to every one of you for supporting our small not for profit community interest company!

We have lots packed into the 2nd half of the year with what we hope will have something for everyone who loves being outdoors doing cool things in cool places with cool people!  Check out below for more information!

Back in May, 75 of you ventured out on the water for our sold out annual Springboard to Summer weekend. This is the second year of us running this event with Active Paddling who are based in Dorset. It’s a super chilled weekend for those who already have paddling skills – a great opportunity for guided trips around the coast with local experts. It was great to see you all there and enjoy time around the campfire after the days adventures! The next sea kayak event is due to take place in September. The Summer Sigh is another weekend that sold out in just over 24 hours, but if you’d like to join the waiting list, if a place becomes available it would be great if you could join us!

We’ve held two of the three events already and this years series has been a great success again so far! The Mendip Murmuration took place last month and we’ve just found out that all of your fabulous reviews have meant that it picked up a silver award from Racecheck! We were only 0.4 points away from a gold, but we’re super happy to have our first mountain bike award! Thank you to everyone who took the time to review it – it really does help us spread the word and encourage new people to come and try the event! We were on Exmoor last weekend for the Exmoor Explorer which was fabulous! A brand new venue for HQ and some fresh routes to wow you with this year! Feedback so far on socials, messages and Racecheck have been amazing – if the average rating remains the same for the next 4 weeks then we’ve just earned our first Gold Award for our mountain bike events! We’re totally blown away! Thank you! We’re back in September for this years sold out Quantock Quake and we’ll have our party pants on to celebrate it’s 10th year on the Saturday night! We have a band lined up, some food and a bar so why not bring some supporters with you and make a weekend of it? As always basic camping is available and can be booked via the link below. We’d love to see you all there to celebrate with us around the campfire! #communitynotcompetition

This is such a great weekend to be part of and we’re really proud of it!

The weekend kicked off on the Friday night with a sunset swim at Pinkery Pond led by two of our wonderful TRIBE volunteers, Tim and Heather.

Numbers were down this year, but it was good to see a mix of Long Distance Walkers, Ultra Marathoners and Wild Trail Runners self navigating themselves around the historic route that is the Exmoor Perambulation!

Man vs Moor was so much fun on the Sunday seeing our runners take on the natural obstacles of the landscape and taking a short swim across Pinkery Pond!

Again, numbers were low for Man vs Moor and although we will be back for 2024, unfortunately, with these low numbers it’s not looking viable to continue with this event after that. The smiles on your faces showed how much you loved it so we really need you to tell all of your running buddies! It would be amazing to be able to grow the event for 2024 and beyond.

Many of you will know that our events are not about racing but about participation and providing more opportunities for people to be outdoors and active across Somerset and North Devon.

That said, this needs a special mention.

On the Saturday, Adam Fieldhouse set a new course record of 3 hours and 58 minutes for the Exmoor Perambulation. This is a phenomenal time for a route that covers 30 miles over some of Exmoor National Park’s toughest terrain.

Massive congratulations also to Darcey Curran who at just 9 years old, became the youngest person to walk the whole 30 miles of the Exmoor Perambulation! Family members accompanied her and she took on the challenge to raise money for the Exmoor Search and Rescue Team. To date, she’s raised over £1,000 of valuable funds with the amount still rising! We’ll be opening entries later in the year, but we’ve already secured the bunkhouse and camping field to host the Exmoor Running and Walking Festival again next year from Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd June 2024! Be sure to keep that weekend free!Content goes here

One Fyne Night, formerly part of the Dark Skies Series is making a comeback, but this time as a summer evening event.

We have a great route 5k for you around the beautiful Fyne Court Estate in the Quantock Hills AONB which will take you around the parkland and woods before finishing in the main courtyard area. If you want to push the distance, then you can chose to do a 2nd lap to complete a 10km route!

This course is undulating but on good trails and tracks. Making your way around the estate, passing the church, through Broomfield Common, around the parkland and returning through the walled gardens and past the pond before finishing arms aloft as you cross the finish line!

A fabulous route in a beautiful location – One Fyne Night is a great thing to do with the family in the summer holidays, but equally great to challenge yourself and your friends!!

Our Dark Skies Series of night trail runs are back for winter 2023/24!

We’ve listened to your feedback, crunched the numbers and taken onboard how the last series worked out and have decided to give it a bit of a shake up!

The 2023/24 series will now consist of our most popular 4 events:

                    • Arlington Asteroids – 28th October 2023
                    • Moonlit Meadow Run – 25th November 2023
                    • Storm the Fort – 20th January 2024
                    • Assault on Baggy Point – 16th March 2024

In a nutshell, committing early to entering these events, ensure that they happen!

Please show your support by booking early and sharing the events with your friends / clubs / neighbours / family / running buddies and anyone else you think would enjoy great night trail running experiences in fantastic locations!

Our group discounts have been a huge sucess – why not gather the troops and enter at a reduced price?!

We can’t wait to see you all on those starry start lines!

Registration for the Minehead Triathlon opened earlier this year and it’s been fantastic to see entries coming in. It’s a great way to end the triathlon season in such a picturesque setting! If you don’t want to take on all 3 elements of the event, why not join as a relay team and split it between you?

We saw some groups join us last year from local Tri clubs – it was great to see their club t-shirts lined up for photo ops after the event! Why not speak to your local club to see if you can get a group together to book at a discounted rate?

There are some great campsites that are still open and guesthouses in the area so why not stay and explore this beautiful part of the country too?

Click the button below to book.

We are really excited to be organising this band new event and we’re totally overwhelmed by the love it’s been shown already! Entries went live on 1st June and we’re almost 50% full!

Looking through the entries, we have lots of clubs signing up as group bookings to take advantage of the discounted places! Thank you all so much for your support!

If you’ve not seen any information about the event, here’s what we’re doing! We’ve chartered a steam train and will take the runners out from Minehead Station and will drop at 3 different locations so that you can complete the beautiful trail routes back to Minehead! It will be fully marshalled with our fabulous TRIBE volunteers and the route will be flagged up with our eco tape on markers.

Distances are as follows:

  • 11 km – Washford Start
  • 11 miles – Williton Start
  • Marathon (26.2 miles) – Bishops Lydeard Start

If you’ve not entered yet, why not share with your running buddies to enter at a discounted rate! The more of you who enter at once, the larger the discount!

Our sliding discounts for group bookings for any of our mountain bike, running or walking events have been hugely successful! It’s been wonderful to see our local clubs entering across our events!

              • Enter a team of 10-19 people and receive 10% off
              • Enter a team of 20-49 people and receive 15% off

All you need to do is assemble your team, enter via the ‘bulk purchase’ button on the booking page, and hey presto! Your discount will be automatically applied! You won’t need to enter your team mates information at the time of booking, but we will need them to complete their registration details one month prior to the event.

If you’d like to enter a team of 50+ then please get in touch so we can organise your 20% discount!

Please note: if you have been entered as part of a pre paid group booking, you’ll need to order your medal in a separate transaction as the booking system is unable to process the information for a pre paid booking along with a medal or momento order.

We can’t wait to see you all lined up in your club t-shirts on the start lines!

The reviews we’ve had so far on Racecheck have been amazing!! Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to do so! Two of our running events have been presented with a Gold Award this year and we’ve just been given a Silver Award for the Exmoor Explorer! If you have taken part in any of our events, it would be great if you could show them some love and rate them on Racecheck! People love to see our pictures and videos from the events, but reading your reviews goes a lot further! Let’s make the rest of this year a smash hit!

In our bid to keep our prices the same as last year, be more sustainable and waste free, we made the decision earlier this year to keep our medals and t-shirts as a separate purchase from your entry. Some of you told us that they didn’t want the bling so this means that we only order exactly what we need. The reduction in left over medals & momento’s so far this year has been phenomenal and tells us we’ve definitely made the right move! We’ve also moved to a really lovely local family run supplier which also reduces our carbon footprint. We’ve kept the square medal so that there’s less waste production too! Burnt Chips have made a few of our event medals now and they’ve been really well received! They’re solid oak and they look and smell amazing! If you don’t want to hang them up and show them off then use the lanyard for your office pass and the medal is still the perfect size to be used as a coaster!

We love a bit of merch and we know you do too! Last year we teamed up with the fabulous Jan Olive and Flanci Activewear to bring you our own Channel Events Warrior and Tribe range of shorts, leggings and skorts! It’s super comfortable, really eye catching and even has a variety of pockets! It’s been amazing seeing photos of you all around the country showing off our gear!

If you haven’t got yours yet, click the link below! We’d love you to tag us @channeleventsuk on your socials!

We’ve been single use plastic free for quite a few years now and we’ve been looking at ways to be even more sustainable by not dishing out safety pins at each event to attach your bib numbers. Please be upstanding for our recycled plastic, reusable snap lock bib clips! They are going down a storm so far! They’re ideal for the wetter weathers too as they don’t put a hole in your waterproof jackets! You can buy them online, or at our events.

We’re also selling reusable collapsible cups which are available at all of our events just in case you forget to bring a drinking vessel to fill at our water stations!

If you’d like to get involved but don’t want to enter one of our events, we’d love to have you with us as part of our TRIBE of volunteers! As a thank you, you’ll receive an on the day breakfast and a cuppa voucher along with our distinctive orange technical t-shirts! If you’ve entered but have family and friends coming to support you, why not get them involved too! Just email events@channelgroup.co.uk or click the button below to join our facebook group!

Thanks so much for your continued support – we’re looking forward to seeing you all on those start lines!

Dan and Jan 🧡
