The Triple 2024

Love the Quake, the Explorer and the Murmuration?? Then we have just the answer! Enter all three of our Somerset based off-road cycling events in The Triple! The Triple is for those few who believe they’ve got what it takes to complete all 3 events in 2024 and will become part of our Elite Triple Club!

Over the past few years we have taken on the fantastic, already established mountain bike events; the Quantock Quake and the Exmoor Explorer. In 2017 we added another and brought the Mendip Murmuration to Cheddar.  Following the success of all 3 events and the successful first year of the Triple in 2018 it is back once again for 2024!

‘The Triple 2024 includes entries into:

  • The Mendip Murmuration – Saturday 8th June 2024
  • The Exmoor Explorer – Sunday 14th July 2024
  • The Quantock Quake – Saturday 31st August 2024

By entering ‘The Triple’ you will receive:

– Exclusive entry into our 2024 events.
– VIP Registration (fast track)
– Discounted rate by entering the series
You cannot get this by entering all 3 events individually you must enter ‘The Triple’ itself.

Committing to The Triple will guarantee your entry into all 3 events in 2024. The Quantock Quake is strictly limited to 250 riders and does sell out so enter now to avoid disappointment. Once one of these three individual events sell out, The Triple will be out of reach until 2025.

Have you got the legs to take on the Mendip Hills  Exmoor and the Quantock Hills all in one season? There’s one way to find out, get your entry in for ‘The Triple’

We look forward to seeing you on all three start lines in 2024!

Please note that the specially designed, hand-finished, ‘The Triple’ 2024 branded medal/momento needs to be purchased separately to your event ticket and is no longer included.

Everything you need to know…

WHAT IS THE TRIPLE?
The Triple is entry into all 3 of our Mountain bike events in 2024.

WHAT EVENTS ARE INCLUDED?

DISTANCE
You can choose between the 20 mile or 30/35 mile route options. This can be decided on the day and all entrants head out on the first 20 miles. If you want to complete the full route of 30-35 miles, you will need to meet the cut-off time for the extra loop.

ENTRY
Triple entry is £112.50 per rider. Enter before the 31st September 2023 to take advantage of our early bird price! Just £99.00.  A small booking fee will be applied at the checkout.

Please note: in order to keep entry prices down and minimise waste, the medal packs need to be purchased separately as they are not included in the event price.

All under 16’s must be accompanied by a supervising rider over the age of 18. 16-18 year olds can ride solo with parent/guardian consent.

REGISTRATION
Registration opens at 08:30. All Triple entrants get access to their own Triple registration point. If you’re booked to do the Triple, you will also only need to complete and bring your personal details form to the first event. For the other 2 events you need only ‘check in’. The personal details form can be downloaded from the downloads page or by clicking here.

CAR PARKING
Car parking is available at all 3 events and costs £2 per car.

COURSE
For each event there is a main loop of around 20 miles.  All riders will head out on the main loop. Those who make it back before the extra loop cut-off time can choose to continue onto the extra loop. This is an extra 10 – 15 miles. To arrange these events in areas like Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Mendips is difficult; please ensure you stick to the way-marked route and don’t cut corners.  A copy of the route will be e-mailed out and available to download the day before each event. This includes links to the GPX files that you can download to your device for each of the loops if you so wish. We advise that you transfer the route onto your 1:25000 map of the area.

WATER
Please bring lots of fluids.  Although we will be providing water at most checkpoints should you run out, we
ask that you come prepared and self-sufficient for a long day out in remote moorland. We are more than happy to top up your water bottles but will not be supplying cups in an attempt to make the event more environmentally friendly.

TOILETS
There are toilets on or near each event village.

SAFETY
At registration you will be given a reusable number board which must be attached to your handlebars. Riders must stop and have their number recorded by the marshals at each check point. As part of our duty of care these rider numbers are radioed back to the control centre to record your progress. Your rider number must also be submitted to the registration desk upon your return. This is how we know you are safe and accounted for.  Exmoor Search and Rescue will be present at various locations should they be required.  Each number board must be handed in at the finish line so that it can be reused for the next event!

CHECKPOINTS
There will be regular checkpoints on all events. Many of these will have water and sweets to keep you going. Don’t forget to stop at each one and submit your rider number. The half way checkpoint on the main loop at each event hosts the famous ‘Miles Tea Stop‘. Grab a brew and some amazing cake before continuing on!

MILES TEA STOP
On arrival at our main loop halfway checkpoint you will be greeted with a smile, sweets, amazing flapjack and a nice brew courtesy of our friends at Miles Tea.

PHOTOGRAPHS
We will have professional photographer Paul Rubery from Blowfish Photography on site so smile when you spot him! A selection of his images will be available online shortly after the event. High resolution versions and prints will be available to buy with 100% of the sales profits going to the Exmoor Search and Rescue Team to help them keep their vital equipment and resources stocked.

FIRST AID
Provided by the Channel Events team.

TRAINING
Our events are challenge based but with the main loop being accessible to all. We recommend that you get some miles on off-road terrain beforehand. Those planning to complete the extra loop need to be happy riding 30-35 miles and able to complete the first 20 miles within 3.5 hours.

WEATHER
Warm weather can pose just as many problems as bad weather. Whatever the weather conditions, please make sure you are appropriately equipped to deal with a long day, in a remote environment. The event will run in conditions deemed safe by the event organisers. Should the conditions not be appropriate the events team will contact you no fewer than 12 hours prior to the event registration. See terms and conditions for our cancellation policy.

EQUIPMENT
You will need to provide your own bike (EMTBs are more than welcome!) and safety equipment. All entrants must wear helmet throughout the event (you will not be permitted to take part without one). We recommend you take the following kit with you during the event. This is however up to your discretion and you take or leave the following items at your own risk.

  • First aid kit for the treatment of strains, sprains, blisters and gravel rash.
  • Food and drink as required, including emergency food.
  • Compass.
  • Ordnance Survey maps of the areas.
  • A whistle.
  • Multi-tool / puncture repair kit / spare tubes / pump.
  • All entrants must take account of the weather conditions which may be encountered during the ride. You may deem it necessary to carry additional items such as; more layers, torch & batteries, waterproofs, survival bag, mobile phone.

FINISH
Celebration is the key! Let’s see those arms aloft as you cross each finish line. Then move to one side to submit your tally number and then head to the registration desk to receive your branded event souvenir if you have purchased one. Please make sure that you submit your rider number; this is a requirement as part of our duty of care. At the final event you will receive your specially designed, hand finished, ‘The Triple’ branded 2023 Medal.

WHAT DOES MY ENTRY INCLUDE?
Not only do you get to challenge yourself in these truly stunning environments, you get to share your experience with others while Channel Events takes care of the safety of your ride and provide stunning routes (and a few brews). Included in your entry are a great atmosphere, friendly marshals, locally blended tea and roasted coffee from Miles, locally made cakes, checkpoints with water and sweet treat stations, and a few fabulous days riding.

Want to know more about each event?

The Mendip Murmuration is a gathering of like minded individuals coming together with a common purpose. Riding your bike through some of Somerset’s stunning landscapes. Cruising and carving over and around the Cheddar area will make for an amazing 20 or 30 mile route that will leave you wanting more.

The Exmoor Explorer is a non-competitive mountain biking event of 20 or 40 miles, held in the beautiful Exmoor National Park in the South West England.

Open moorland, woodland trails, natural single track and secluded Combes, the Explorer doesn’t disappoint. This iconic Exmoor cycling event was started 19 years ago and we are immensely proud to now run it.

The Quantock Quake is a non-competitive mountain biking event of 20 or 35 miles, held in the Beautiful Quantock Hills AONB, Somerset, South West England. Open moorland, woodland trails, natural single track and secluded Combes, the Quake has it all.

Whether you choose the 20 or 35 mile route you will be able to access areas of the Quantocks usually restricted. You’ll also see some of the greatest views from and of the Quantocks and be fully supported by our friendly team.
